The Events organisers committee is made up of a group of
volunteers within the residents club. As of 2005 the team includes both
residents and annual associate’s members. We meet regularly on a monthly basis
at the club and sit around the table and arrange weekly/monthly events. As this
is a totally voluntary role we try and share equal responsibilities to each
event, thus not proving to be too much of a burden to any one party. The team
is currently made up of seven members, however we always welcome new ideas, and
fresh entries into our team would always be made welcome at the club’s Annual
General Meeting. In its past the committee took on the full role of
responsibility for the welfare and ongoing activities within the club, However
these days, the actual day to day management and running of the club is the
responsibility of club trustees. We do however take active roles within each
team, ensuring that the welfare and continued success of the club is always
fully maintained.
On the Events page you will see a program of dates already
entered for the current period including children’s parties, a visit form Santa
himself, The Club Christmas party and our grand finale of the year, the Club
New Years Party, which we hope will be a sell out crowd (as ever). We try and
keep the year agenda of events fairly active and keeping ticket cost to a
minimum as we appreciate the best things in life usually don’t need to be of
excessive cost. However ticket sales do make a substantial contribution to the
high standard of performances that are provided through the year and last but
not least, helps us to keep the annual subscriptions to a minimum. During the
working week you will be kept advised of weekly activities form youth clubs to
general quiz nights, bingo etc. we regularly send out club flyers for this
purpose and to keep you up to date.
Our club steward/manager, who also takes an active role on the
committee, is a keen chef and often our events include hot food as seen on the
menu page, which would change from time to time according to the events on
offer.
Sports within the club are not usually an item that the
committee would take on, as this is a facility that is provided for the freedom
and use of the members. It is however an intention to start up a friendly
squash league and maybe put on the odd pool competition should we have enough
interest during the winter periods.
Contact details of committee members are available by request to
Grangewood Residents Club. Otherwise please post a request as required to the
club email@bla bla bla .com.
I hope this has given you a brief insight into the events and
organisers committee and would like to take this opportunity of welcoming you
to any of the events you would choose to join in with. We look forward to
seeing you soon.
From. Steve, Barbara, Jackie, Tracy, Gwen, Russ & Neil.
